Domus 1940–1949 (Sourcebook)
A reprint collection of Domus magazine's coverage from the 1940s, tracing the years from wartime destruction through postwar reconstruction and the search for new social values. Domus continued publishing through much of World War II despite the bombing of Milan, managing a turnover of editors during Gio Ponti's "interregnum" between 1941 and 1948. Covers reports on modern industrial design and furniture, prefabricated housing, American academic architecture, and building projects by Carlo Mollino, Gian Luigi Banfi, Franco Albini, and Giuseppe Terragni. Domus was founded in 1928 by Milanese architect and designer Gio Ponti as a "living diary" and has since been considered one of the most influential architecture and design journals in the world. Edited by Charlotte and Peter Fiell, with contributions from Manolo De Giorgi and Luigi Spinelli. Preserves the magazine's original layouts and covers.
