Gerhard Richter Painting (DVD)
A documentary granted rare access to painter Gerhard Richter's studio in spring and summer 2009, offering a fly-on-the-wall view of the tension-filled process behind his large-scale abstract paintings. Richter destroys multiple canvases before arriving at his finished compositions, applying and scraping away layer after layer of color. Includes conversations with art historian Benjamin H.D. Buchloh and curator Hans-Ulrich Obrist. Directed by Corinna Belz, presented by Kino Lorber in co-production with Zero One Film, Terz Film, WDR, MDR, and Arte.
