Kusama: Infinity - The Life and Art of Yayoi Kusama (DVD)

A biographical documentary on Yayoi Kusama, tracing her path from a conservative upbringing in rural Matsumoto, Japan, where childhood hallucinations of repeating patterns shaped her signature polka dot and net motifs, through her 1958 move to New York, where she navigated sexism and racism while working alongside figures like Andy Warhol and Donald Judd and pioneering happenings and soft sculpture. Covers her later voluntary commitment to a Japanese psychiatric facility in 1977, from which she has continued producing work, including her mirrored Infinity Rooms, on her way to becoming the top-selling living female artist in the world. Directed by Heather Lenz in her feature debut; premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
