Ornette: Made in America (Blu-ray)

A 1985 documentary on saxophonist and free jazz innovator Ornette Coleman, directed and edited by Shirley Clarke, her final film. Traces Coleman's path from a segregated childhood in Fort Worth, Texas, through Morocco and New York, to his 1983 return home for a day named in his honor. Mixes documentary footage with dramatized scenes and some of the era's first music-video-style sequences, with contributions from William S. Burroughs, Brion Gysin, Buckminster Fuller, Don Cherry, Yoko Ono, Charlie Haden, and Robert Palmer.
